The roots
of Potentials Unlimited lie in providing Career Management solutions
to organizations. Our approach is unique and consistently delivers
high value to organizations and individual participants.
Our belief
is that sustained organizational performance can only exist with
inspired workforces, who are in the right roles, and who are proactively
managing their careers. Our "LifePath" process
is the cornerstone to our success, and we have successfully delivered
this to over 5000 individuals in organizations across North America.
Business problems
addressed through the process include;
Developing future leaders in organizations
Increasing individual performance
and morale
Enhancing retention - the
right people stay for the right reasons
Preparing current employees
for retirement or transition
Enhancing team performance
by adjusting member roles
Our experience
has shown that most "developmental" investments in organizations
are marginalized for two reasons.
Individuals do not have sufficient "self-awareness"
to enable them to make career choices that play to their innate
strengths and career interests
Individuals do not have the
necessary "career management" skills to enable them
to proactively manage their own careers.
The impact
of this on organizations is dramatic. Individuals will often
select or be seconded to roles that are a less than ideal fit.
Their performance is below their capacity, and their morale
begins to suffer. With the best of intentions the organization
often responds with developmental investments that are inappropriate,
and often are now faced with a performance management problem,
garnering considerable time and energy from precious management
resources. The cycle continues until the employee "falls
into" the right role, or more often, simply carries on
and either keeps doing the same thing or emotionally resigns.
The
LifePath process
is a proven way to break out of this cycle. It involves ...
Mapping out the current career management process.
Realigning the process
to meet organizational and individual requirements
Participating in the LifePath
Workshop.
Supporting individuals
in finding roles in the organization to match their "Career
BluePrint".
The
LifePath Workshop is a significant investment in individual
and organizational performance. The 3 day program takes individuals
down a significant introspective journey. During the first two
days, through a combination of assessment instruments, group
work and structured reflections individuals create a Career
BluePrint, This blueprint serves as a roadmap and compass
for attaining career success. The rest of the workshop is about
implementation. Participants look at conventional and unconventional
approaches for finding or creating roles in their current organization
that are a match with their Career BluePrint. They identify
matches and discrepancies within their current roles, and uncover
ways to work through the discrepancies.
There
is a significant focus on the theme of "playing to their
strengths". They will each create a development plan that
looks at;
How can they spend more time mastering their strengths in their
work, and
In what areas (skills, knowledge,
etc.) do they need additional development.
Finally,
each participant creates a future vision that covers all aspects
of their life, and then an action plan to ensure they attain
that vision.
Participants
come to appreciate the shifting employee/employer relationship.
They understand that it is their responsibility to lead their
career, and to identify win/win ways in which they can be successful
on their own terms while making a significant contribution to
the organization.
Feedback
from participants
consistently involves the following themes.
"I
now have the skills and knowledge required to successfully lead
my career. I know what was not working, and what to do about
it"
"I will be able to make a more significant contribution
to the organization"
"I am in the right job, and know what to do to ensure I
stay in my zone"
"I have taken many courses before, and this one has had
the greatest impact on me to date"
"Thank you for making this investment in me. You took a
risk, and will be well rewarded for it"
"Everyone in our organization needs to take this course"
"The
LifePath process and workshop has had a tremendous positive
impact on our organization. Specifically it has
|
Increased employee awareness of their strengths
and unique work styles.
Assisted them in accepting themselves for
who they are and how they can contribute to our organization
in their own unique way.
Inspired them to take ownership of their
careers.
Enabled
them to be more productive, creative, innovative and
fulfilled in their roles with the city.
Helped them
to understand the different perspectives of their
team-mates, and translate this into more productive
and cohesive teams
|
I
highly encourage other organizations to explore this as
an approach to creating a high performance work environment."
